Vernon Cless HinckleyOctober 8, 1930 ~ June 2, 2017 (age 86)
Vernon Cless Hinckley passed away June 2, 2017 in Murray Utah after a long illness. He was born October 8, 1930 in Logan Utah, the first of eight children born to Arthur Vernon Hinckley and Zelda Bodily Hinckley. Cless was reared in Fairview Idaho, attending Preston High School and graduating from the University of Idaho with a degree in Agronomy. He played baseball in high school, college and professionally for the Red Sox organization. Sports were always an important event in Cless’ life. He followed all BYU sports, enjoyed knowing all the new rosters at local high schools, attended numerous state tournaments, and loved watching his granddaughter, Katie, play softball.
Cless was an active member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and spent many of his retirement years volunteering at the Provo MTC and at various BYU sporting events as well as holding many church callings. He was a veteran of the Korean War and then had a long career in Electronics Manufacturing before retiring to Provo Utah.
Cless is survived by his children Deanne (Mark) Tanner (West Bountiful), Todd Hinckley (Logan) and Shawn Hinckley (Provo); grandchildren Grady Tanner (currently serving a mission in Lima Peru), Katie Tanner, Ashlyn Hinckley and Scott Hinckley; siblings Raquel Buhler, Stephen Hinckley, Linda Scott, Arlene Turner and Leanne Allen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Karen Campbell and brother Merek Hinckley. Graveside services will be held at the Fairview Idaho cemetery, 4200 South State, Preston Idaho, June 10th at 11:00.
