Cynthia Lynn Schlyter

Cynthia was the daughter of Louella Grace Noffsinger and Robert T. Noffsinger I. She was born July 1, 1958 in Bowling Green, Kentucky, while her Dad was attending school at Western Kentucky University. She graduated from Greenville High School in Greenville, Kentucky. While in high school, she worked at her family’s business “The Pizza House” which she thoroughly enjoyed. She then attended Murray State University on a five-year music scholarship based on her French horn expertise. She was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, or SAI, professional music fraternity, and she was awarded the “Sword of Honor.” She was the president of the Murray State Racers Marching Band and lived in Ordway Hall. After graduating, she taught at Olympus High School in Salt Lake City and also taught at Kimber Academy.

She is survived by her sister Julia A. Noffsinger Terry and her husband Ken B. Terry, and brother Robert T. Noffsinger II and his wife Karen Noffsinger. She is also survived by her children, Lars Benjamin Bradley Schlyter and wife Kerstin, Sabra Helen Grace Schlyter, Tara Elizabeth Clare Schlyter and husband Blaine Dickerson, Severin Jesse Daniel Schlyter, Victor Robert Joseph Schlyter, and grandchildren Clare and Lorena. She was preceded in death by her parents and younger brother John Bradley Noffsinger.

Cynthia was active in her church as choir director and Sunday School teacher and Relief Society President. As a conductor she directed “Cumorah”, “The Messiah”, as well as other productions. She was a member of the Sterling Singers for several years and wrote several narrations for their performances.

Cynthia’s testimony is that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and he died on the cross for the sins of all. This knowledge and studying his Word and teaching others brought her endless joy. She is with Jesus now and is in peace.

A celebration of life will be held in her honor in July, more details to follow
