Braden Scott Pike, 33, passed away in the early morning hours on June 13, 2026 surrounded by his family who treasured those last moments with him. He was born on July 27, 1992 in Sandy, Utah.
When Braden was born, he suffered from a series of strokes that left him with lifelong challenges including cerebral palsy and was later diagnosed with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. The resulting seizures were hard to manage, and left him with intellectual and developmental difficulties that were impossible to overcome.
Despite his challenges, Braden was a happy boy. He loved to play with things that made funny sounds and laughed at silly noises, and he loved music. His giggle was contagious and everyone loved to make him laugh whenever possible. Although he couldn’t communicate with anyone, it was evident he knew the voices of his family, his father in particular, and would come to life whenever he heard him near. Braden loved oatmeal, strawberry milk, and his mom’s homemade spaghetti. He was very opinionated, and when he didn’t like something, he made sure it was known.
Starting from a young age, he received intervention services from amazing special education teachers, therapists, healthcare providers and dedicated caregivers. He spent time at the School for the Deaf and the Blind as an infant, then later he attended Jordan Valley School and Kauri Sue Hamilton School, where he graduated at the age of 22.
It was a sad day when he had to leave school behind, and he then moved to the West Jordan Care Center where he was a resident for twelve years. While it was a difficult decision to have him away from home, we are forever grateful to the staff for the great care he received there and for making Braden’s life enjoyable through their kindness and love for him.
Braden was preceded in death by his grandmother, Joy Ashton, whom we are sure was there to greet him anxiously. He is survived by his parents, Patrick and Wendy Pike; his brothers, Colby and Dylan; his sister, Savannah; his grandparents, Terry and Linda Heslop; his grandfather, Blaine Pike; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Braden will be sorely missed by his family, caregivers, and all those who knew and loved him and the time we spent with him will always be remembered and cherished. He taught us about kindness and how to love unconditionally, and the blessings and miracles we experienced from having him as a part of our lives will always be with us. We look forward to the day when we will meet again.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, June 20th.
