We honor the life, extraordinary resilience, and enduring legacy of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who passed away at the age of 90 in Utah. Born in Ituiutaba, Minas Gerais Brazil to Adelaide Abadía de Jesus and José Tomas Albano-a blond, blue-eyed Italian immigrant who was tragically orphaned at just four years old while on a ship traveling from Italy to Brazil in search of a new life- she faced the silent, heavy burdens of severe poverty with a quiet dignity and an unyielding determination to see her family survive.

A Childhood of Imagination, Early Artistry, and Divine Protection

Growing up amidst immense hardship, her childhood was stripped of the simple comforts most take for granted. She had no store-bought dolls to play with, so she used her imagination and resourcefulness to create her own, beautifully crafting them out of straw and scraps of old cloth materials.

Her early years were also touched by moments of profound grace. As a child, she fell into a swollen river during the heavy rain season, a terrifying moment where her life hung in the balance. By the grace of God, a man who happened to be walking by saw her, quickly grabbed her from the rushing waters, and saved her life- a miraculous deliverance that allowed her story to continue.

As a teenager, her life was touched by another rare and beautiful gift- she possessed a stunning singing voice. Her talent was so remarkable that she was invited to sing at the local radio station, sharing her music with the community and showing an early glimpse of the vibrant spirit within her. However, the rigid societal expectations of the time brought an early, heartbreaking end to this passion. Her oldest brother heavily frowned upon her singing on the airwaves, unfairly equating the activity to being a lady of the night, and forced her to stop. Though her public voice was silenced, the music in her spirit was never truly extinguished.

A Life of Hardship and Resilience

Raising five children- Cléria, Luiz Carlos, Renato, Graciliana, and Elias- largely on her own, she bore responsibilities that would have broken many. Faced with abandonment, an initial lack of educational opportunities, and systemic poverty, she did the absolute impossible to care for her family.

To put food on the table, she took on whatever brutal labor was required. She worked tirelessly washing clothes by hand, scrubbing so fiercely and for so many hours that her hands would frequently bleed. She also worked scrubbing pots and pans as a restaurant dishwasher and served as a dedicated custodian for the local Assemblies of God church. There were times when the family knew true hunger, yet she consistently fought to provide hope and sustenance, turning even the simplest meals into a triumph of survival.

Ambition, Education and entrepreneurship

Driven by a relentless desire to build a better life, she refused to let her circumstances define her final horizon. Through sheer willpower, she pursued an education to become a nurse, dedicating herself to her studies at night school after working exhausting days.

Her grit matched a vibrant entrepreneurial spirit. She went on to build and run a successful beauty salon, and further established a residence rental business. She was not just a survivor of hardship, but a sharp, self-made businesswoman who carved out opportunities where none existed.

The Heart of a Mother's Sacrifice

Her life was defined by the agonizing choices a mother must make when pushed to the brink by circumstance. When poverty threatened her family's survival in Ituiutaba, she made the heartbreaking decision to send her children away to live with other families, choosing a chance at their survival over her own comfort.

Her final years were spent peacefully in Utah, surrounded by the security, love, and generational care she so deeply earned through a lifetime of labor.
