Amos Daniel Slama, a loving, cherished husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, dear friend, beloved neighbor, and teacher passed away September 09, 2023 peacefully at home, surrounded by his Family.
Dan was born at home in Ogden, Utah to James Anthony Slama and Josephine Twitchell Slama. He grew up in Clearfield Utah and graduated from Davis High School. He graduated from Weber State University with a degree in business. He had many jobs as a young boy and served in the National Guard and the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged. He had many jobs as a young man selling cars, Union Pacific Railroad, Mines in Nevada, and bricklaying. His greatest vocational calling was being an amazing Instructor/Teacher and Mentor at the Ogden Weber Technology Center. He impacted and enriched so many students’ life’s, giving them a trade and sharing his life long wisdom with them. In 1991 his student won the national bricklaying title and with Dan as his coach, competed in the World title in Amsterdam. After retiring, he continued to substitute teach for many years.
In 1957 he married the love of his life, Udene Byington Slama. They were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple. They were blessed with five beautiful children and was proceeded in death by Laura Lee and Lana. Surviving children: Dana Slama/Mark Aquilino, Michele Slama/Lance Sparks, Daniel Craig Slama/Leona, 13 Grandchildren, 36 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchild that were all his pride and joy.
Dan and Udene together served two LDS missions at Martins Cove, WY, and Ogden, Utah. He held many church positions and was dedicated to the Lord and his family. Dan loved camping, riding motorcycles, hunting, and fishing with his family. He served on the Weber County Senior Citizens Board and was a pillar in the community. He was very versed in politics and loved his country. Dan was very talented. He could draw, play the piano, sing, and play the guitar. His favorite hobby was silversmithing at the North Ogden Senior Center. He made jewelry for the woman and bolo ties for the men in his family and friends.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, James and Josephine Slama, sister, Betty Ann Slama Perkins, brother James Lewis Slama and granddaughter Heather McKain Fraga.
The world lost a great man on September 9th and he is so loved and will be missed by all.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to NURH and dignity home care for the care and compassion they showed to Dan and the family.
