Arthur Fredrick Schreier(98) passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013 at his daughter's home in Midvale Utah. He was born September 23,1914 at the family homestead 3 miles west of Eagle Butte South Dakota.(Dewey county). His parents, Friedrick L, and Anna Plappert Schreier, were German immigrants.
Arthur and his brothers and sisters attended the Fox Ridge country school east of Lantry, South Dakota, where they learned English and made life long friends. Art attended school through 8th grade and then stayed home to help with work on the farm. Arthur married Mary Elizabeth Kumley on June 30,1944 at Rapid City, Pennington county, South Dakota. They lived on the family homestead with his parents for the first part of their marriage. They later purchased their own farm about two miles away from the homestead and farmed there for the rest of their lives. Arthur was a loving protective husband and father and an avid outdoors man He enjoyed hunting, fishing,farming and watching things grow. Animals were an important part of his life and he seemed to have a special talent for training them. He was also an inventor, coming up with many innovative ways to get work done on the farm. Arthur is survived by two daughters and one son. Florence Irene (Larry) Hill of North Ogden Utah, Elizabeth Ann (Roger)Robinson of Midvale Utah, and John Schreier of Mobridge South Dakota. He is also survived by nineteen grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and many neices, nephews, and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Elizabeth Kumley, a son Fredrick Earl Schreier, a daughter Eva Ruth Schreier, and all of his brothers, sisters and their spouses.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 Tuesday, January 8, 2012 at the Union Park 1st Ward 7699 Chad Street Mindvale, Utah
