Listen to Obituary

Austin Lee Lyons, 24, was born on October 14, 2001, in Huntsville, Alabama and departed this life on January 18, 2026, in Sandy Utah.

Austin attended Hazel Green High School before setting out to make his way in the world. His journey took him through Florida, Maine, and New York, before he ultimately settled in Utah, where he established roots and built a life surrounded by friends who became family.

Austin loved spending time with those closest to him and enjoyed playing games on his PC. He was known as the “big brother” of his friend group — steady, loyal, and protective. He often reminded his friends that they were family, and he lived those words. They relied on him just as deeply as he relied on them. His presence brought strength, laughter, and comfort to those around him.

Austin is survived by his siblings, Allie, Andrew, and Abby; his stepfather, Scott Ricketts (Shirley); his uncles, Jason Lyons (Heather) and Ryan “Little Man”; his aunts, Tessa and Joe; his beloved girlfriend, Sierra; and his close friends, Trent Mazak (Lynn), Braeden, John, Dallyn, and Bodee, along with several cousins and many more friends who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jessica Ricketts; his grandmothers, Elizabeth Lyons and Kathy Scott; and his grandfather, Michael Skipworth.

Austin will be remembered for his loyalty, his protective heart, and the deep love he had for those he called family. Though his time here was far too short, the impact he made will live on in the lives of everyone who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to help cover funeral expenses.  The link for donations can be found below.
