Our beloved mother, grandmother and friend peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father, January 18, 2016 at the age of 87. Barbara was born June 9th 1928 to Hobart and Mary Ann Dumke. She was raised in Farmington Utah and graduated from Davis High. She served as a missionary in the Western Canada Mission in the early 1950s. She married her eternal sweetheart, Melvin Cottrell Blamires, in the Salt Lake Temple on June 17, 1952.
Barbara was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved serving in many capacities, touching the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was a current member of the Farmington Third Ward. She loved the church and was blessed by having the sacrament brought to her home for several years. She always had the scriptures close by and loved reading stories from the Bible and Book of Mormon.
Barbara was fun loving and always put family first. She especially liked board and card games and spent many hours playing Sorry with her grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and relished many of the simple things of life. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed kidding around with others often saying, “If you don’t have something to laugh about then forget about it”. She loved music and found joy in playing the piano and singing church hymns. Her favorite song was “I Am a Child of God”.
She is survived by three children, Craig (Sandra), Christina Durfee and Scott (Maria), 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, daughter Tamara, grandson Jessie Blamires, siblings Hobart and Ida, and by her parents.
A funeral will be held Saturday January 23, at the Farmington Rock Church (272 North Main) at noon with a viewing beginning at 10:30 a.m.
