Barbara U. Martines

Barbara U. Martines, 80, passed away peacefully at her home in Sandy, Utah, on Wednesday, November 13, 2013. Barbara was born February 9, 1933 in Cedar City, Utah, to Leon & Elda Stubbs Urie. Her father passed away when she was an infant, and her mother married Frank Condie, who raised her and her older sister, Delores, as his own. On May 25, 1951, two days after graduating from Cedar City High School, she married Haren Don Marines, with whom she shared 45 years of marriage. Don passed away on Mach 13, 1996. Barbara worked for JC Penney for over 35 years. After retiring from Penney's, she became bored and decided to work part time for SteinMart in Sandy and SLC. She formed many lasting friendships over the years at both places of employment. "Grandma Bobbie," as she was lovingly called by her grandchildren, was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, with a unique sense of humor. She will be missed by all, especially her grandchildren, whom she loved with all her heart. She is survived by her children, Cathie (Wayne) Wagstaff, and Jeffrey Don Martines both of Sandy, Utah; sisters, Sandra Strang of Denver, Colorado, and Carmen (Roy) Hunt of Cedar City; grandchildren: Bart, Trent, Carson,Cole, and Chase Wagstaff, and Justina Meyers; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, step-father, and sister, Delores Hill. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November, 18, 2013, at the Crescent Park 4th Ward, 10885 Pampas Way (835 East), Sandy. Friends and family may visit prior to services from 10:15 A.M. to 10:45 A.M.. Interment will be at the Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 So. 1700 E. Sandy, Utah. Condolences may be shared at serenicare.com
