Bruce Holland Petersen passed away February 8, 2024.  He was born November 21, 1937 in Logan, Utah to Harold Monroe Petersen and Wanda Holland Petersen.  He married  Martha LaRee Anderson in the Logan Utah Temple on March 16, 1961.  Together they raised four boys; Kevin, Jeffrey, Chad and Jade.  

He graduated from Utah State University in Biology.  In addition, he received a Masters Degree in Microbiology and a Doctorate in Immunology from Indiana University with a minor in Virology and Biochemistry.   He was an Immunologist for Eli Lilly and Co from 1968-1997. Bruce proudly served in the United States Army and obtained the rank of a Major.  

Bruce was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  From 1958-1960 he served a mission in Eastern Canada.  Together he and LaRee served as a couple in the Church Education system, Melbourne, Australia from 2001-2003.  And again in 2003-2007 they served a Church Service Mission in Kaysville, Utah.  He also served in the Presidency of the Indianapolis Indiana Mission.

Bruce loved fly fishing and tying flies.  Along with that he loved to camp, travel and snack. He was an avid reader and researcher of a variety of topics.  He enjoyed the theater as well.  A favorite activity was playing Santa Claus for neighbors, friends and preschools.  He also loved making candy canes with family and friends.  

He is survived by his wife LaRee and sons; Jeffrey (Lori), Chad (Marsha), and Jade (Jamie); daughter in-law, Denise; fifteen grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren. Bruce is also survived by his brother Craig (Marade) Petersen.   

Bruce is preceded in death by his parents; son, Kevin  Petersen; grandson: Dane Petersen and great-granddaughter Hazel Peterson.  

There will be a Viewing with the family Wednesday, February 14, 2024 from 6-8 p.m. and again on Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. at the LaDonna Mesa Ward Chapel, 2375 E 3225 N, Layton, Utah.  A funeral service will be held directly after at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be at the Logan City Cemetary.
