Carol Ann Inch passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 6, 2022 after a valiant, hard fought seven year battle with Ovarian Cancer.
Carol was born on December 18, 1957 to William “Babe” Inch and Mary McCafferty Inch on Nantucket, Massachusetts, where she attended Nantucket public schools and graduated from Nantucket High School class of 1975. She maintained many of those childhood friendships throughout her life. She eventually settled in Syracuse, Utah where she resided for the past 35 years.
Carol was preceded in death by both parents, her brother Thomas who died in infancy, and her beloved dog Sumo.
She is survived by her daughter Holly (Phil); grandson, Christopher; granddaughter, Sara (Nate); sister, Sharon; nephew, Jason (Heidi), nieces; Angela and Kelly. And her best friend of over 30 years Mike “Ace” Connell.
A very special thank you to her doctors, nurses, and staff who took great care of her, and to her friends and co-workers who have reached out.
Carol had a passion for traveling and cancer only intensified her wanderlust. She spent her last years exploring new places, experiencing new cultures, strolling new cities. Always learning, always in awe. She enjoyed camping, and kayaking, and being in nature.
Cancer may have taken her body, but she was far too strong to have ever allowed it to claim her spirit.
In the hours before her passing, I played music I knew she liked. Kashmir by Led Zeppelin, Crimson and Clover by Tommy James and the Shondells, Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd, Like a Rolling Stone by Bob Dylan, and Long December by Counting Crows.
“I can’t remember all the times I tried to tell myself to hold on to these feelings as they pass”
I curled up next to her in her bed singing along with each song while she slowly faded. You were there when I took my first breath, and it was an honor to be there when you took your last.
Sweet Dreams, Mom
I love you always, Holly Lynn
