Chad Michael Smith Passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at his sister's home in Layton, Utah. He wasn't feeling well and he laid down for a nap and was suddenly gone. It has been unbelieveably hard having lost him so suddenly as he was generally in good health.
Chad was born June 13, 1969 to parents, Thomas and Patricia Smith in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was the youngest of five children, 3 brothers and 1 sister. There was a several year gap between Chad and the next oldest brother. That didn't seem to matter to Chad, who looked up to his siblings and jumped at the chance to do anything with them. Chad loved his family unconditionally. He didn't want anything from them other than time and love. Chad also loved the outdoors, whether it was at the family cabin in Colorado or it was sleeping under the stars in Layton, he preferred it to the indoors. He loved to camp, fish and hunt. He also took pride in having the opportunity to work with his brothers. He loved to walk, he waked everywhere. For a time, he even lived in a tepee.
Chad was an amazing man. Not many in this world have the same positive attitude and servant's heart like Chad did. He lived very simply on purpose. Though he hadn't much he would literally give you the last bite of food he had if you were hungry (which was a really big deal if you knew how much he loved food and loved to eat), the shirt off his back if you needed clothing, a listening ear if you needed one, always with a smile and positive attitude. He would find the silver lining or the good that would come from any situation you found yourself in, and he would do whatever else he could to help out in anyway.
Chad is survived by his three brothers; Tommy, Jr; nephews; Derek, Durell, Brandon; Dale Andrew, nephews, Eric, Taylor, Jarred, Jax niece Shelby; Mark Alexander, nephew; Bryce, nieces Brook, Brandi and Britlyn; and his sister, Cheryl, niece Crystal and his "manager" Heather
There is a memorial service at Layton City Park, 437 North Wasatch Drive, Layton, Utah. Come join us to share memories and stories of Chad. There will also be a graveside service, August 14, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
