Chad Edward Wilson

Chad Edward Wilson, 87, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed
away in Salt Lake City, Utah, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Salt Lake City,Utah, on January 8, 1939, to Edward Walter Wilson and Florian Jenkins Wilson. 

At the age of five, Chad moved with his family to Lewiston, Idaho, where he spent his youth living and working on the family farm. At eighteen, he returned to Salt Lake City, where he attended the University of Utah and played baseball.

Chad proudly served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on August 1,1975.

On August 28, 1969, Chad married the love of his life, Mary Johnson, in Elko, Nevada. The couple had planned to marry in Lake Tahoe, but Chad stopped in Elko because he couldn't wait a moment longer to start their life together. Their marriage became a lifelong partnership filled with love, family, faith, and countless memories. On October 15, 1988, Chad and Mary were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a devoted husband and father, and took great pride in each of his four sons.

Chad was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was a High Priest, and fulfilled many church callings throughout his life. His faith was central to who he was, and he served his family and others with love and dedication.

Chad's warm, outgoing personality made him a natural in his sales career. Whether selling freight or autos, he took joy in meeting people, who inevitably became customers and friends.Yet regardless of his work, his family always remained his greatest priority.

Golf was chief among Chad's many interests. An avid and accomplished golfer, he loved sharing the game with his sons, teaching them how to play and creating memories they will cherish for years to come. He also loved camping with his family and treasured the time spent together outdoors.

Chad is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Johnson Wilson; sons, Troy Wilson (Marsha),Preston Wilson (Frances), Steve Wilson (Lara), and Darin Wilson (Kim); eight grandchildren,Max, Erika, Sara Nielsen (Michael), Andrew, Charles, James, Gabrielle, and Julia; and one great-grandchild, Peter Nielsen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Florian Wilson; brothers, Stuart Wilson and Randall Wilson; and sister, Rae Wilson.

Chad will be remembered for his love of family, his faith, and the many memories he shared with those he loved. His greatest legacy is the family he cherished.

 Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing from9:30–10:30 a.m., at the East Millcreek LDS 2nd Ward, 3750 Hillside Lane, Salt Lake City, Utah.Interment will follow at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery.
