Charles Connell Bell

Washington, UT, Charles Connell ("Con") Bell, - passed away on February 21, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. Con was born in Logan, Utah on August 20, 1927 to James Blaine and Lola Farrell Bell. He married Paula Obray on June 27, 1952 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. He joined the Navy with his Cousin Paul Winborg at the age of 17 and had many new experiences for a young man. He was the coxswain of the admiral's barge and related many stories to tell about that experience. C.C. Bell S1, USN was inducted into the Sacred Order of the Golden Dragon on October 3, 1947 (associated with his ship, The Topeka.) He served in China, Japan, Formosa, and many South Pacific Islands, and also experienced the atomic testing at Kwajalein Atoll. He was discharged in 1948. Con worked for the Bell System of Telephone Companies for 38 years. He worked in Idaho, Utah, Arizona, and settled in Roosevelt, Utah for the majority of his career. He served in many capacities throughout his career and saw the company grow to become what it is today. Con loved his family and took them on many outdoor excursions. He taught his children and grandchildren many outdoor and life skills. Con was an avid hunter, bowman and fisherman. Anything to do with the outdoors drew him... he enjoyed life. He also enjoyed his many "hunting buddies". Con was a former President of the Roosevelt Kiwanis Club; Duchesne County Sportsman Club and participated in many community and church activities. He is survived by his wife Paula and their four children: Charles Michael (Sabrina Laris); David Paul (Lori Savage); Rodney O. (Deanna Lutz); Baby Jimmy Bell (deceased); and Allison Bell Kelter (Jay); ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grand children with two more due soon. He is also survived by his brother J. Farrell Bell, of South Jordan Utah and a sister Kathryn Bell Spackman of Sunset, Utah. He is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by: his parents; and a sister Glenna Bell Pinson Mathews. It stands to reason that he would want his final services outdoors, so at his final request there will be no funeral. Graveside services will be held at the Richmond, Utah Cemetery at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 27, 2013. His friends and family are invited to attend a visitation that same day prior to the graveside service from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the Richmond 2nd Ward building, 150 S. 100 E. in Richmond, Utah. A family luncheon will be held after graveside services at the Richmond Utah 2nd Ward Cultural hall. Friends and family are invited to share condolences online at www.serenicare.com.
