Dan Sidney Davis

Sid Davis passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully from a heart attack on Wednesday April 5th, at the age of 78.  Born in Delta, Utah, while his father, Donald Dan Davis was serving overseas in the US Army in WWII, Sid noted that his childhood setting was similar to the fictitious town of Mayberry on the Andy Griffith Show, and was the basis for his wholesome strong family values, which later gained the comment from his children, “you can take man out of Delta, but you can’t take the Delta out of the man”.

After serving a mission in the Eastern States Mission, Sid met Joan Nielsen Hunter at Snow College in Ephraim, Utah when he offered to trade the use of his car for the use of her horse.  They married in 1969 in the Salt Lake Temple.  Sid then earned a Civil Engineering degree from Utah State, but ultimately became a Residential Real Estate Broker and enjoyed the flexible “lone wolf” lifestyle it afforded.  He also authored home-improvement and real estate books, as well as fulfilling one of his lifetime desires of writing a fiction western novel.

Sid enjoyed hunting, camping, cooking, traveling to the Pacific Northwest, and was an exceptional fly fisherman.  He is survived by his mother Phyllis Stains Davis (now 101 years of age), his devoted wife Joan and his four children: Trent & Debbie Davis, Terilyn & Isidoro Alvarado, Travis Davis, and Torrey & Lisa Davis; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren and three siblings: Sheryl Grey, Helen Brunson, and Deborah Farnsworth.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 14th at 11:00 AM, at the LDS church located at 729 West Shepard Lane, Farmington, UT.  A brief viewing will be held prior at 10:00 AM and a family luncheon afterwards.
