Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Donald Joseph Odvody 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 10, 2013 in Mesa, Arizona. Don was born on September 25, 1918 to Joseph Frank and Tillie Anna Pabian Odvody in Prague, Nebraska. He married Modine Virginia Cox in Enid, Oklahoma on July 27,1942, and later married Avis Eichman on November 12, 2001 in Mesa, Arizona. In 1941, while attending college, Don joined the United States Army Air Corps. Don was stationed in Italy and had the specialty of Airplane Electrician Mechanic. He also earned the qualifications of a Carbine Sharpshooter on the 25th of March, 1944. During his tour, he earned the American Defense Service Ribbon. Don was an active Free Mason and earned the prestigious place of 32ndDegree Mason.
Don is survived by his spouse, Avis, his children, Larry (Betty) Odvody and Dale (Ann) Odvody, his brother, George (Ann) Odvody and two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Don is predeceased by his parents, first wife, and his brother, Leonard Odvody. A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at Merrill Gardens Activity Center located 7231 E. Broadway Road, Mesa, Arizona 85208. Final resting place will be in Enid, Oklahoma. A special thanks to Grace Hospice and the staff at Merrill Gardens for the wonderful care provided.
