Doranne Barney

December 1, 1960 — October 2, 2021

Doranne Barney

Doranne Barney was a fierce-spirited daughter, sister, aunt, mother, and friend. She passed away on October 2, 2021, after a valorous battle with cancer.

Doranne was born to William Reed and Ruth Barney on December 1, 1960. She is survived by her brothers, Bryan (Jacquelyn), Jeffrey (Marin), and Matthew (Roddy).

Her ambitious spirit led her to make friends where ever she went. She spent more than 25 years working for Intermountain Healthcare, where she met some of her best friends. She cherished those relationships. She was a beloved aunt to twelve nieces and nephews (McKinnley [Aaron], Brennen [Stephania], Jackson [Paige], Nicole, Tate, Matthew, Lindsay, Olivia, Jessica, Paige, Mya, Tyler), six of which she helped raise into adulthood. She is also the cherished aunt to five great-nieces and nephews (Claire, Eliza, Penelope, William, Zoey). Doranne was fiercely protective of them, and she was well known for her sharp tongue on the occasion that anyone messed with her kids.

Doranne had a creative and fiery soul that always led to her pursuing a new project or embarking on a new path. She was a lover of animals, and her generous heart took in as many dogs and cats as she could. Her children loved to listen to her tell bedtime stories, do puzzles with her at the table, and go with her on drives around town. They watched her serve others in quiet and simple ways, and her example continues to impact each of their lives. She was endlessly loyal to her family and will be missed immensely by all who knew her.

Services to celebrate Doranne’s life will be held on Friday, October 8th, at 11 am at Big Willow Barn (535 North State Street, Lindon, Utah)
