Duane Pete Peterson passed away in his home January 30, 2015, surrounded by his family. Pete was diagnosed with Lou Gehrigs disease (ALS) on July 21, 2013. He did his best to stay positive and made some amazing changes because of his diagnosis. Pete was born March 2, 1955 in Provo, Utah to Melvin and Merrilla Peterson. Pete graduated from Orem High class of 1973. After high school he went straight to work, with his dad, at Geneva Steel. He married his high school sweetheart Jeannine Phillips. Together they had 3 children, then later divorced. He started his own business renting and delivering VCRs and movies. This is how he meet his second wife Lynne Hoover. Pete adopted her 2 children and they moved to North Ogden where he started working for Flying J, running there video stores. Then he moved to be their wholesale gas salesman. In 1999, he met and later married, the love of his life Kimberly Sandoval. They moved to Lehi, where Pete started and ran SunCrest Landscaping. The Business was his baby and he spent long hours making it a great success. Pete worked directly with the employees and wasnt afraid of hard work. Pete loved Lake Powell and would spend many long weekends there on the second love of his life The Black Pearl. He loved spending time with family and friends enjoying the sun and the water. He loved the red rocks and so Moab became another favorite. He loved exploring the trails in that area on his side by side. Pete will be dearly missed. He was the life of the party and a great friend. He had a way of making everyone around him laugh. He has left his mark on all those that knew him and will not be forgotten. He is proceeded in death by his parents Melvin and Merrilla Peterson, (2) Brothers Lamar and Gerald Peterson, Step son Kiefer Sandoval He is survived by his wife Kimberly, His children Brandon(Tara) Peterson, Danielle McCaffery, Jennie (Shea) Haws, Jeff(Christie) Peterson, Danielle Edwards, Kyler Sandoval, 6 grandchildren, Sister Vera(Ron) Walker, brother Merrill Peterson In lieu of flowers, donate towards ALS research at secure.mdsusa.org/Donate A viewing will be held on Friday, February 6 from 6 to 8 pm, at the Ivory Ridge Chapel at 127 East 3200 North Lehi, Utah. Funeral services will be held at the same location on Saturday, February 7, with a viewing from 10:00 to 10:45 am and service to begin at 11:00 am.
