Edward James McEwen

Edward James McEwen, died on July 10, 2015 in Plain City, Utah. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Ed was born on July 9, 1932 in Ogdensburg, New York to John and Francis Spears McEwen. He married Ruth Van Vacter on July 18, 1959. Ed served in the United States Air Force for 4 years where he completed an apprenticeship for Aircraft Radio and Radar Mechanic. After an honorable discharge, he worked in Civil Service for 35 years. He had a love for all things electronic, enjoyed road trips and took great pride in his yard. Ed is survived by his sons, Jim (Kelly) and Rod (Lori). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Trina, Kristin, Justin, Russell, Ashlee, Randi and eight great grandchildren. Ed was preceded in death by his wife Ruth, his parents and his brothers. The family would like to thank Mary Lou Fretwell for her many years of love and companionship that she and Ed shared. They would also like to thank Hearts for Hospice and Home Health for the excellent care they gave to Ed and his family in the days preceding his death. A graveside service for Edward James McEwen will be held at Lindquist Layton Cemetery located at 1867 North Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 2:00 pm.
