Elma P. Sims, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, peacefully passed away on August 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 15, 1930, in her family home in Highland Boy, Bingham Canyon, Utah, a once-thriving mining town since absorbed by the expanding Kennecott Copper Mine.

On September 9, 1949, Elma married the love of her life, George Sims, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on January 13, 1962. Together, Elma and George shared 68 wonderful years, building a life rich with love, family, and service.

Elma's life was a testament to her dedication and diverse talents. She attended LDS Business College and began her career as a bookkeeper and accountant in the family business. Later, she brought her talents and love of learning to North Park Elementary, where she served as a librarian for many years. She cherished working with the young children and enjoyed the camaraderie of her colleagues. Elma's lifelong passion for learning also manifested in her artistic pursuits. She loved to draw, crochet, sew, knit, and play the organ. In her earlier years, she also found joy in singing and dancing. Her family will forever treasure the many beautiful oil paintings she created. Elma and George also shared a special hobby: he would meticulously cut intricate wooden pieces, and she would bring them to life with her beautiful tole painting, creating cherished family decorations.

Elma enjoyed golfing for many years, earning numerous awards, including the title of Club Champion several times. While she was involved in many sports growing up, golf remained her greatest love. She found immense joy in golfing with her friends, family, and especially her beloved husband, George. Elma was also a devoted Utah Jazz fan, often calling to confirm the game times.

Elma's life was defined by her generosity and devotion. She was a cherished neighbor, a beloved member of her ward, and a friend to everyone she met. A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served diligently in many capacities throughout her life. As a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she never missed a birthday, demonstrating her boundless love for her ever-growing family. Spending time with her family was her greatest joy.

Elma was preceded in death by her husband, George Sims; her parents, Matt and Mary Pezel; and her 12 siblings. She is survived by her children: Randy (Vicki) Sims, Lori (Mark) Nixon, Shauna (Bryan) Fowers, and Michael A. (Sherry) Sims. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Jodi at Enhabit Hospice Care for her compassionate and excellent care.
