Eve Lou Davenport Lamoreaux

Eve Lou Davenport Lamoreaux, 83, peacefully slipped away in the early morning of March 26, 2013, at the Beaver Valley Hospital after a short illness. She was born November 30, 1929, in Paragonah, Utah, to Lewis M. and Evelyn McBride Davenport. She attended school in Paragonah and Parowan, graduating from Parowan High School. She married Walter K. Lamoreaux in December of 1948, and they enjoyed 64 years together in Paragonah, where they raised a family of five children and spent many wonderful years with brothers, sisters, cherished friends, and other family members. Her best friends were always her sisters and sisters-in-law, and their families spent lots of time together enjoying family meals, reunions, and many excursions into the mountains surrounding Paragonah, in addition to trips to the Redwood Forest, along the California coast, and into Canada. Her kids remember many fun camping and fishing trips where the entire family would load into the station wagon, all the children on top of the camping equipment, and journey from Paragonah to Pine Lake near Bryce Canyon. Mom was content to stay near her Paragonah home, visiting with family and friends. Her only extensive travel in the last ten years was to a medical school graduation in New York and a cruise to Alaska with some of her family for their 60th wedding anniversary. In addition to camping, fishing, and outdoor activities, Mom also liked to quilt, embroidery, and crochet. She put many hours of labor into wonderfully artistic quilts, embroidered dish towels and various crocheted items that are cherished by many family members. She and Dad spent countless hours preparing and storing the produce from their extensive garden and fruit trees, and they were always happy to share. She is survived by: her husband, Walter K. Lamoreaux; and four children, Randy (JoAnne) Lamoreaux, Diane Lamoreaux, Gary (Lisa) Lamoreaux, Janet (Ronald) Carter, and son -in-law John Sturdevant; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and a sister, Carol Farnsworth. She was preceded in death by a daughter Janice Sturdevant, and a grandson Justin Sturdevant. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 30, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. in the Paragonah Ward Chapel. Visitation will be Friday evening, March 29, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, March 30, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Paragonah Ward Chapel. Interment will follow in the Paragonah Cemetery Friends and family may share condolences online at www.serenicare.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Duane Lamoreaux at SereniCare Funeral Home, St. George, UT. 986-2085.
