Francisco "Frank" A. Herrera passed away peacefully at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah, on October 30, 2026, at the age of 81.

Frank was born on October 7, 1945, in El Rito, New Mexico, to Frank Herrera Sr. and Magdalena Baldonado Herrera. Throughout his life, he built a legacy defined by hard work, determination, creativity, and, above all, his love for family.

Frank shared 64 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Leslie. He was a proud father to three daughters, Madalene, Janey, and Diana, and a loving grandfather to 10 grandchildren: Jesse, Carrie, Valerie, Alex, Anthony, Andria, Alyssa, Serenity, Destiny, and Ledraya. He was also blessed with 17 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. His family was a constant source of pride and an important part of his life.

Frank earned an associate degree and went on to build a long and dedicated career as an electrician with Kennecott in Salt Lake City, where he eventually retired. He took great pride in his work and the career he built through years of dedication and hard work.

Outside of work, Frank had many passions. He loved golf and was proud to be part of the Kennecott golf team. He also carried a special pride in his AAU boxing title and had a lifelong admiration for Muhammad Ali. His competitive spirit and love of these sports were an important part of who he was.

Frank was also a man of remarkable creativity. A talented poet and oil painter, he received recognition and accolades for his work. Although Frank was a fairly private person, his love of poetry opened the door to special friendships through Poetry Soup, an online community where he connected with fellow poets and writers. Those friendships meant a great deal to him and gave him a place to share his words, creativity, and passion with others who appreciated his talent.

And then there was Frank's confidence and sense of humor. He loved how good he looked in his sunglasses and took great pride in that beautiful head of hair he had when he was younger. He certainly wasn't shy about reminding everyone that he was the best-looking guy in town. His humor, personality, and ability to make people smile were just as much a part of him as his many talents and accomplishments. It was simply "Frank being Frank."

Frank leaves behind a family who will forever cherish his memory, his stories, his laughter, and the many ways he touched their lives. He will be remembered for his hard work, artistic spirit, pride in his accomplishments, and the love he had for his wife and family.

Following cremation, the family has chosen not to hold formal services.

Frank's life was uniquely his own, and he leaves behind memories, words, artwork, friendships, and a family who will carry his memory in their hearts forever.
