Garda Gay Moulton Hodgson 1921 ~ 2013 Our beloved Garda passed away on April 8, 2013. Garda Gay was born in Delta, Utah on September 30, 1921 to Grant Moulton and Eliza Manilla (Overson) Moulton. She grew up in Delta, but at age 15, went to Kaysville, where she graduated from Davis High. She studied Art & Dance at BYU and was a member of the Pep Club. Garda worked for Avon, JC Penney and the Remington Arms Co. before traveling to Hollywood, CA where she worked at Disney's Studios. She contributed to the films Song of the South and Fantasia, while residing at the Hollywood Studio Club. It was here in Hollywood, where she met her eternal companion to be, Veldon, while he was serving in the Marine Corps. Both avid historians, their first date was researching genealogy at the LA Public Library. They married in the Salt Lake City Temple and lived in Salt Lake City, then Denver, San Luis Obispo, El Paso, San Diego and Whittier CA, before retiring to Orem. Garda has served as a teacher in the Primary, Junior Sunday School & Relief Society, as well as Stake Publicity Manager, Ward Dance Director, Relief Society Counselor and various Ward & Stake Genealogy callings. She would paint beautiful and highly detailed backdrops, scrims and stage props for our annual ward musicals. Garda was extremely talented in sewing, knitting & crocheting and taught these skills to her children. At 85, she published her 500 page book of family history research on the Power-Holloway descendants. Together, Garda and Veldon raised five children: Lorraine Ironplow, Sylvia Dalton (deceased), Julie Hodgson, Kerrye Dixon and Brett Hodgson; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren. Viewing: 7 - 9 p.m. Friday and 11 - 11:45 a.m. Saturday. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the Lakeview Chapel, 155 W. 1600 S. Orem. Interment: Orem City Cemetery.
