Gay Lynn Benson Johnson Starr, 61, passed away March 20, 2013, at McKay Dee Hospital, Ogden, Utah, after a valiant year long battle with pancreatic cancer. Born June 14, 1951, in Cedar City, Utah to Joseph D. and Gaytha Lamoreaux Benson. She attended elementary school in Parowan and Beaver, graduated from Beaver High School, attended SUU in Cedar City and graduated from the Bryman School in Salt Lake City. Gay Lynn married Kerry Johnson, (divorced) and the late Don Starr. Gay Lynn moved to Ogden and has resided there for many years. She was a dedicated employee of Utah Hematology and Oncology at McKay Dee Hospital for over 30 years where her coworkers and Dr. Hanson were like family and best friends. Her work was her life. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of its truthfulness. Gay Lynn loved golfing with Don, the Beaver mountains, being at our family cabin, animals, frog hunting, the Jazz and roasting a hot dog over the campfire. She loved her parents, siblings, her charming nieces and nephews who absolutely adored her, and especially her son Brady, his fiancé©e Kelly and she had a special part of her heart for her beloved granddaughter Emily. She was a vibrant spirit, full of fun and love of life. Where she went, fun followed. She was fiercely independent and fought hard to stay with us. Gay Lynn is survived by: her son Brady, his fiancé©e Kelly; granddaughter Emily Johnson; her parents Joseph and Gaytha Benson; her siblings, Katy (James) Robinson, Beaver- Julie (Destry) Labrum, Ogden- Joey (Esther) Benson, Beaver- a special Aunt Joan, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A special thank you to Dr. Vincent Hanson and his staff for their love, care and concern for Gay Lynn. She loved all of you. Also her Bishop, friends, neighbors and ward family members. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. Visitation at 9:00 a.m. at Mt. Lewis 8th Ward LDS Chapel, 1150 N. Monroe, Ogden, UT. Graveside Services to follow at the Mountain View Cemetery in Beaver Utah at 5:00 p.m. March 23, 2013. Friends and family are invited to share condolences online at www.serenicare.com.
