Glen Boyd Read

On August 15, 2023 at 9:15 PM Glen Read, loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Brother passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the age of 67. He fought long and hard the last few years with Parkinson’s Disease and Dementia.

Glen Boyd Read was born on June 2, 1956 in Missoula, Montana to Ken & Ethel (Mitchell) Read.  During his early years, he and his family spent their time in Great Falls, Montana.  They later moved to Missoula, Montana. Glen attended Sentinel High School in Missoula, Montana graduating in 1974.  He then went on to attend the University of Montana where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics with a Minor in Computer Science. 

Glen married Lisa Marshall on May 22nd, 1982, in Missoula, Montana. Glen and Lisa lost their son Jonathan before birth in December 1989.  In 1997, they were overjoyed at the birth of their daughter Jessica, who has brought so much joy and laughter to them.     

Glen had passions for astronomy, weather/meteorology, reading the Sunday comics, chess, playing the accordion, cryptograms, and Sudoku. He also created his own NFL predictions formula. Glen’s favorite NFL team was the Seahawks. He was interested in family genealogy and preserved many family photos. He later was dubbed the family historian. He loved to travel and enjoyed many adventures while on business trips.

Glen’s working life began with a paper route as a teenager.  He later worked for KG Mens Store in Missoula, Montana. The majority of his working career was as a Computer Programming Analyst, in which he worked for 33 years for the State of Utah, in the Department of Workforce Services. He retired in June of 2021.  Glen was also a very spiritual man, with a deep faith for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.   

Glen was preceded in death by both of his parents, Ken & Ethel Read and his beloved son Jonathan. Glen is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lisa K Read, his daughter, Jessica and her husband, Richard, along with one Granddaughter, his sister Deanna Noonan (Bruce) of Post Falls, Idaho and brothers Larry Read (Theresa) of Belton, MO and Warren Read (Molly) of Blaine, WA, 4 nephew’s, several cousins, and his Father & Mother - in Law, Gene & Donna Roy of Great Falls, Montana.     

A short Celebration of Life is scheduled for 10:00 am on September 2nd, 2023 at the Adventure Church 352 W 12300 S Suite #100 Draper, Utah 84020. Light refreshments to be served after the service.
