A Celebration of Life in a Loving Memory
Gloria M, Hughes ß (Honnie)
Gloria M. Hughes Born and cherished daughter of Reverend Ira Lee and Edna Mae Martin on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1947, in Ogden, Utah.
She was a radiant beacon of love, myth, and boundless compassion, peacefully called to her eternal rest on September 2, 2026. Yes, Gloria was Bom a PK (pastor's kid), and God was first in her life! She held a number of positions in Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and Unity Baptist Church for which she was raised up in the church by her Ira Lee Martin. She was a member of the mission, decorating committee and a financial. She sang with t562he church choir and sang as a trio group with her husband and sister Loretta Celeste.
Graduate of South High School, and attended the University of Utah, and Westminster University where she completed many classroom courses. Gloria was an EEOC Officer investigating claims of discrimination throughout the Western United States. After her 34 years of service, she retired as a GS-12. Gloria had abounding love for her grandchildren Karen D. Hughes, Dayoni K, Hughes, Kiara D. Hughes, Dayjah K. Hughes, Ella T. Hughes, and Elise T. Hughes. who affectionately called her "Honnie". Gloria's faith was unwavering. Her generosity was never ending; her love for her family was beyond all reach. She believed, the more you give the more he gives to you, and that you cannot beat God's giving. She was the joy, and love of her family in ways that cannot be expressed. With the Lord's calling, Gloria tried on her robe, slippers, and her golden crown that were all the right size.
Gloria is survived by her husband of 57 years, G. Ernest Hughes, and elder son Daymian Martizes Hughes, Grandchildren's: Karell D. Hughes, Dayoni K, Hughes, Kiara M. Hughes, Dayjah K. Hughes, Ella T. Hughes, and Elise T. Hughes Sisters: Kay Paulette Mouton, and Loretta Celeste Ward; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends from California, Colorado, Georgia, Michigan, Nebraska, Texas, and Utah. She was preceded in death by her father Ira Lee and mother Edna Mae Martin, her brother Ira Kenneth Martin and her youngest son DarShaun Tathe Hughes
