Harry Ralph Pittsinger died at home on Tues, June 23, 2015. He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts to Alexina Johnstone and Harry Ralph Pittsinger on September 25, 1924, followed shortly by his twin sister, Alexina on September 26th. Two more daughters, Irene and Ruthie were later added to the family. All preceded Harry in death. Harry grew up in Springfield and at age 18 joined the U.S. Navy where he served for 24 years including, World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam. After retirement from the Navy, he was employed by Utah Bank and Trust. He retired from there in 1989. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Harry fulfilled many callings, including 12 years as an ordinance worker at the Jordan River Temple. He had a great love of sports both as a spectator and participant. His favorite to participate in were golf and skiing. In 1943, Harry married Dorcas Penfield. They are the parents of four children: Carol Patterson, Diane Stratford, Jeffrey, and Joel Pittsinger. Their posterity has grown by 11 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. After many years of illness and tender care by Harry, Dorcas passed away in 1981. He married Twyla Towt and she brought her three children: Jeffrey Killian, Kevin Towt, and Charles Towt; 9 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was Dad and Grandpa to all of them. Funeral Services for Harry will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at the LDS Chapel on 5000 Pavant Avenue, West Valley. A time for Viewing will be held at the church from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service. Interment will follow in Redwood Memorial Estates.
