Hector Marcial Vicencio

Hector Marcial Vicencio, age 81, attended a joyful reunion with family and friends beyond the mortal veil on Friday, September 27, 2013. Hector was born and raised in Quillota, Chile. As a boy he paid little attention to Patricia Nina Villalobos, the young daughter of family friends. She, however, was quite certain that he was to be her husband. He remained skeptical - perhaps because she was 7 and he was 10. By age 26 all doubt was gone; indeed the two had fallen in love and were married. He moved his young family to Chicago in 1971. There, he and his family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Washington D.C. temple in 1975. They moved to North Ogden in 1978. Hector loved working as a machinist/engineer at Western Zirconium. He retired in 2000. He served an L.D.S. mission with his wife in Quito, Ecuador from 2005-2007. His greatest joy came from his family. He loved the gospel, his garden, and tinkering with mechanical things. He loved his grand children immensely (and was only slightly annoyed that none of them learned Spanish very well). Hector loved this country and the opportunities it provided. He was loved by all who knew him. Hector is survived by his wife, Patricia; his four children, Viviana Held, Chris (Kelly) Vicencio, Marci (Kent) Palmer, and Priscilla (Chris) Allred; his thirteen grand children; and seven great grand children. The family wishes to thank the excellent people with Gentiva Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion during Hector's physical decline. Friends may visit the family from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. on October 1, 2013 at the North Ogden 5th Ward, 626 E. 2600 N., North Ogden. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, 526 E. 2850 N., North Ogden.
