Ivan Elliott Johnson

Ivan Elliott Johnson was born on July 13, 1935 to Rulon Iven Johnson and Zella Cotterell. He passed away peacefully of pulmonary fibrosis and heart failure on June 27, 2015. He was surrounded by his family. Ivan married his sweetheart, Donna B. Visser, on September 13, 1957 in the Los Angeles California Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and his wife of 58 years raised three children: Scott, Craig and Dawn. He was raised in Provo and graduated from Provo High in 1953. He spent his summers near Bryce and Cannonville, UT. Ivan also served in the Army for two years. While in the Army, he was stationed in Germany and served as company clerk. He attained the rank of sergeant. After his military service, he attended Brigham Young University, where he earned a Master of Mechanical Engineering Degree. Ivan also attended California State University Fullerton, where he earned a Masters of Business Administration. He began working at Rockwell International in 1961 and retired 31 years later. After retiring, he and his wife settled in Orem, UT. In 2001, they moved to Pleasant View to be near his daughters family.
Ivan enjoyed sports (especially golf), fishing, and building and fixing things. He loved to serve the Lord and found joy in helping others. Over the span of 18 years, he and his wife served in the Los Angeles, Provo, Mt. Timpanogos, and Ogden Temples of the Church of Jesus Christ. He served diligently for 17 years as a stake clerk and stake executive secretary.
Ivan is survived by his wife, Donna; and his children, Scott (Sharon) of Colorado Springs, CO, Craig (Renee) of Mesa, AZ, and Dawn (Van) Christiansen of Pleasant View, UT. He is also survived by his brothers, Jim (Kim) Orem, UT, Daniel (Linda) Provo, UT, and Royle (Sue) Carmichael, CA. He and his wife enjoy the blessings of 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rulon and Zella; his sister, Rose; and his brother, Evan. Services for Ivan Elliott Johnson will be at the Church of Jesus Christ located at 3602 N 500 W in Pleasant View, UT on July 1, 2015. There will be a viewing from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Services will begin at 11 a.m. A graveside service will be at the East Lawn Memorial Hills located at 4525 East Lawn Drive, Orem, UT on the afternoon of Wednesday July 1, 2015. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Church of Jesus Christ missionary fund are appreciated.
