Jack Olin Peterson

Our loving Dad, Grandpa, Great-grandpa, Brother and Friend, Jack Olin Peterson passed away Friday, March 21, 2014, from natural causes. Jack was born in Oakley, Idaho on September 3, 1927 to William and Ora Hague. He joined siblings Hilma and Zen with Signa joining their family two years later. Jack was raised in a good home and learned to work at an early age. He was a weather observer at the end of World War II and a gunnery instructor during the Korean War. He served a two year mission for the LDS Church and attended Brigham Young University and majored in Agronomy. He worked for the Soils Conversation Service for many years, working in Idaho, Arizona and Oregon. After 32 years of service, he retired to Burley, ID and enjoyed living near family and friends from his youth. On November 24, 1958 he married Carol Peterson in the Salt Lake Temple. They had been introduced by family friends. They had two children, Loriann & Kyle. Jack loved his kids and taught them in his own quiet way. He took care of Carol during their marriage and especially during her last years. Jack loved to garden, refinish old furniture, read (especially about the gospel), play with his grandchildren, attend the temple, go for drives. The family would like to thank those who cared for him during his last year; Our House of Orem and Access Hospice. These people are certainly angels of mercy to all they serve. We love Jack tons and will miss him a lot. He is survived by his children; Loriann (Tim) Merritt, Orem, UT and Kyle Peterson, Burley, ID; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, sisters, Hilma Peterson, Burley, ID and Signa Noyes, Marysville, WA. Services will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 11 am at 190 North 800 West Relief Society room, Orem, Utah, with a viewing at 10 am. He will be buried next to his wife at Heber City Cemetery.
