James Eric Johnson, of Alaska, unexpectedly passed away on May 3rd as a result of a pulmonary embolism, at the age of 23.
James was born on February 29th, 2000 to Brig Eric Johnson and Fatima Cristiane Bezerra Neto in Salt Lake City, UT. After James graduated from Almeden Valley Christian School in 2018, he went on to take college classes through Brigham Young University.
James had the opportunity to live in various places, such as Utah, Texas, California, Florida, and finally in his favorite state, Alaska. He was an excellent geography aficionado, with a keen ability to memorize routes, data, and locations. He was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and belonged to the Susitna Young Single Adults Ward in Alaska, where he made many friends whom he loved. James enjoyed spending time with family, and frequently made his nieces and nephews laugh. His favorite activities included painting, playing basketball, swimming, snowmobiling, traveling, and spending time outdoors.
James was predeceased by his grandparents Lawrence Johnson, Donna Johnson, Alma Bezerra Costa Lima, and Ailton Muniz Neto. He is survived by his parents (Brig Eric Johnson and Fatima Cristiane Kenworthy), step-parents (Kathy Johnson and Gary Kenworthy), half-siblings (Victor Mourão and Silvia Caswell), and nieces and nephews (Kensington Mourao, Holland Mourao, Lindley Mourao, Jacen Caswell, Andrew Caswell, and London Caswell).
A viewing, followed by a brief memorial service was held at the Susitna Young Single Adults Ward in Wasilla, Alaska, May 8, 2023. A graveside service will be held May 13, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the American Fork City Cemetery.
