Janice Lela Johnson Walden

Janice Lela Johnson Walden passed away peacefully on July 1, 2015 in Bountiful, Utah. Janice was born Sept. 6, 1932 in Richfield, Idaho to Louis Aaron and Sarah Mae (Newby) Johnson. She married Kenneth C. Walden September 5, 1953 and they were sealed for time and all eternity on September 5, 1961 in the Las Angeles California LDS Temple. The love of Janice's life was her family and the gospel of Jesus Christ. She cherished all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and our lives were blessed by her loving ways, always thinking of others before herself. We have missed her sweet, loving spirit and personality for many years and now we give thanks that her mortal body, worn out, has departed and she will be at peace. Janice served two LDS missions with Kenneth to Florida and Nauvoo and she loved serving in the Temples of the Lord for many years. She also served in many church capacities throughout her life finding joy in serving others. As a military wife, Janice lived many places around the country and was a working woman wherever her family settled. She attended secretarial school in Salt Lake City in the early 1950's and was a resident at the Beehive House when it was lodging for young women attending school. She was a bookkeeper for auto dealerships, banks, and then retired as a U.S. Government civil servant. She loved America very much and felt so blessed to be an American. Janice loved to read and always had several books on her night stand. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she was family famous for her peanut brittle. She sewed matching dresses for herself and her three daughters every Easter for years, a beloved memory. Her journals are filled with stories of her children and grandchildren, their comings and goings, events and travels, happy times and sorrows. Janice is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Kenneth. She is also survived by five brothers: Allen, Eldon, Lyn, Bruce and Bob and two sisters Norma and Linda, many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. All of her children still live and she loved them very much. Her stepsons: Jim (Kathy), Bruce (Cathy), and Douglas (Toni). Her five children: Maurice (Debbie), Sue Walden, Ilona Walden, Karla Kepsel (William), Kendall (Ellen). Janice is the grandmother of 21, the great-grandmother of 40 and the great-great-grandmother of 2.She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Ardyth, and an infant grandson, Christopher. Janice's family wishes to express gratitude to the staff of Legacy House of Bountiful Utah for their services and kindness to our mother. We also express thanks to North Canyons Care Center for their tender mercies and a special thanks to Julie with Aspire Hospice and Mary with Weber Human Services. Janice's wishes were to have a simple graveside service and we will be honoring her wishes on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 10 AM at Bountiful City Cemetery located at 2224 S 200 W, Bountiful, UT 84010.
