Jennie Gay Griffiths passed peacefully away March 3, 2026 from complications due to a stroke. Her husband Mark was by her side and she was surrounded by loved ones. Jennie was born April 28, 1954 in Pendleton, Oregon to Glen Rex Purnell and Mary Donna Forsyth. In her early life was known as Gay. She graduated from Bonnie Doon High School, Edmonton AB Canada (1972), Ricks College, Rexburg, ID (1974), Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah (1976) with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Home Ecomonics, Education and Clothing and Textiles.
Her greatest joy was to be a loving mother and champion of her eight children in all of their sports, church, scouts, 4-H, dance, music and other never-ending activities. She was a substitute teacher for elementary to high school from 1997-2023.
She was always busy, ambitions and usually had multiple projects and "on the go" all at one time. Most of those projects were driven by love and service for family, church and community members.
Raising, supporting and loving her children and grandchildren in all aspects of their life was her proudest accomplishment. She loved to share and show her family to others and even requested that each family member dress in a different color for family photos so she could point them out and brag about them.
She was taught to love horses by her parents and shared that love with her children. She taught all the kids to ride on the ranch and spent countless hours organizing for horse shows, family rides and hosting friends for trail rides.
She was an amazing seamstress and sewed everything from clothing to wedding and formal gowns to vaulting and track uniforms to theater and dance costumes. She loved music and instilled that love in all of her children. She also shared with her church and community as a choir director for more than 25 years.
Jennie is survived by her husband Mark Weight Griffiths and children: Jennifer (Martin) Poblete, Heather (Myron) Monsen, Todd (Stephen Boone) Griffiths, Jessica (Dustin) Fryberger, Nathan (Lacey) Griffiths, Spencer (Chelsee) Griffiths, Scott (McKenzie) Griffiths and Amber (Adam) Roberts; 35 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother in laws, Kraig Lords and Steven High and her grandson, Gavin Johnson.
There will be a graveside held April 3, 2026 at the Weston City Cemetery, Weston, Idaho at 11:30 am.
