Jerre William Allyn
Jerre William Allyn (94) of Salt Lake City, Utah passed away on December 20, 2023 at the William E. Christoffersen Salt Lake Veterans Home. He was born in Los Angeles, California on March 3, 1929 to John Percy Allyn and Jannette McCanne, the third of three brothers. His mother died at an early age and his father then married Inez Osborne, a widow with three children of her own. Together, John and Inez raised the six children in Eagle Rock, California.
Jerre attended and graduated from Eagle Rock High School and, following an enlistment and Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Army, attended and graduated from the University of Southern California. He married Mary Helen Christie, later divorced. He married Mollie Jessen on November 27, 1957 with whom he remained for 58 years until her death in 2015. They enjoyed their home life in Southern California, train travel around the United States and especially vacations to wine country in California. Following retirement they moved to Salt Lake City where they spent time doting on their grandchildren. He was thoughtful, unassuming, reserved, intelligent, a loyal friend to many and a loving son, husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his son James, granddaughter Gina, sister Veralee and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson Lucas, sister Shirley, brothers John, James & Steve, and parents.
