Joan Arnold, loving wife, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on August, 20, 2023 at age 86. She was born to Harry Thomas Elliott and Gertrude Maude Burgess on September 6, 1936 in Montreal, Quebec.

After high school, Joan’s parents, and her twin sister, Barbara Petersen, chased the California dream and drove from Toronto, Canada to Santa Monica, California. Once in California, Joan got a job at General Telephone Company, where she met her husband, Richard Harvel Arnold. After their first daughter, Judi, was born they moved to Camarillo, California, where they welcomed three more daughters, Lori, Barbi and Shari. In 1988, the Arnold family moved to Utah, where Joan lived until her death.

She was best known for her constant smile, her continuous happiness and her kindness for others. Joan loved sewing, gardening, singing in the choir, traveling, serving in the temple, painting and writing poetry. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and being a part of her daughters’ lives. She was very proud of the time she spent serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Nauvoo, Illinois.

She is survived by her four daughters, Judi Marie (Robby)Robbertze, Lori Michele (Geoff) O’Connell, Barbi Lynn (Ryan) Schramm and Shari Louise (Jason) Weaver. Grandchildren: Taylor (Emma) Kesler, Aubrey Arnold, Brett Kesler, Emeline Kesler, London O’Connell, Haven O’Connell, Kaitlin (Paul) Bradshaw, Morgan (Austin) Combe, Chandler (Clare) Schramm, Sawyer Schramm, Indiana Weaver and Emerson Weaver. Great-grandchildren: Emery Combe, Gwendolyn Bradshaw and Elliott Bradshaw.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11 am on August 22, 2023 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 1785 East 400 South, Springville, Utah. The viewing will be from 9am-10:30a beforehand.
