JoAnn Hobbs Waldram

JoAnn Hobbs Waldram, our sweet wife, mother, Grammy Jo, sister, and friend went to the "BBQ in heaven". A phrase she coined when one of her grandchildren asked her about passing on. She was born on August 23, 1954 to James Gordan and Dona Tidwell Hobbs, and slipped into the eternities, surrounded by her family, on May 16, 2014, from injuries sustained in a fall at her home on May 7th. She and her brother Jim grew up in South Salt Lake and Millcreek, graduating from Olympus High School in 1972. While attending the U, she went to a sorority luncheon on a sunny January day and saw a darling brown-eyed boy at a table. She sat across from him and said "Hi, my name's JoAnn, what's yours?" That started a love affair with Jeffrey Williams Waldram that lasted over 40 years, producing four wonderful children and seven adorable grandchildren. Jeff and JoAnn were married on December 9, 1973 in Elko, Nevada, and were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. JoAnn was the consummate people person. Her personality attracted people like a moth to a flame and she befriended everyone. She learned her work ethic from her parents, and began applying it at 13, working with her dear friend Cora Adams at the Girls Club. There she learned to accept people of all backgrounds without prejudice and kept that principle her entire life. She worked for over 30 years with Clinique Cosmetics, making life-long friends and beautifying many women along the way. She sold optical frames for Tura and learned how to accessorize her eyes with style and panache. Throughout her career she won many fabulous prizes and trips for her and Jeff, which allowed them to mingle with the rich and famous. After her children finally got with the program and produced some grandchildren, she became a real homebody and loved to spoil all seven of them every chance she could. She threw memorable parties for them, and they loved to go to Grammy Jo's house for Grandma Camp. Because of her bond with children, she spent most of her church service in the primary, but she really found her niche as the activities chair with Jeff, once again planning parties for all occasions. She kept an impeccably appointed home and loved to decorate for all seasons and every holiday. She loved her Diet Mountain Dew Code Reds, family vacations to St. George, Jackson Hole, Yellowstone, river trips down the Green River, the beauty of Moab, the National Parks, and anywhere she and Jeff could travel. JoAnn is loved so much and she will be missed terribly by her best friend and eternal mate, Jeffrey Boo Boo, and her four loving children: Jacy (Nate) Mitchell and their two children, Paisley and Porter; Brody (Tanalissa), and their three children, Jonas, Mialissa, and Layla; Bradley (Ashley), and their two children, Crew and Preston; and Jory Ann. She is also survived by her brother James (Laura) Hobbs, currently serving in the North Adriatic Mission, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Linda and two brother-in-laws. Funeral services will be held at 12 P.M. on Wednesday May 21, 2014 at the Green Oaks Chapel, 932 W. Green Oaks Dr. (5890 South). There will be a viewing the night before from 6:30-8:30 P.M. and again the day of the service from 10:30-11:30 A.M. The family wishes to thank the staff at IMC's 5th floor trauma unit for their kindness. Interment services, Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy, Utah.
