Joyce "Dolly" Fischer

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Joyce "Dolly" Fischer, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2014, at age 93. Joyce was born September 4, 1920, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to John Nels Christensen and Mable "Flossie" Coulombe. She married her husband, Louis H. Fischer, in Indianapolis as well. Joyce attended George Washington Community School in Indianapolis and spent her career working as a real estate broker. However, her proudest moment was when having gone back to night school she received her high school diploma in 1973 that her fight against TB had blocked her path to 36 years earlier. Joyce was an avid bridge and poker player and enjoyed golfing whenever she had the opportunity. She was an excellent cook and her Sunday dinners brought together both friends and family. Joyce was a beloved mother and grandmother who took great pride in her family and the time they spent together. She is survived by her children Randall Fischer (Joe) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Alan Fischer (Mikie) of Darien, IL; Dale Fischer of Portland, OR; and Heidi Fischer of Mesa, AZ. Joyce is also survived by her grandchildren Andrea Fischer, Jennifer Fischer Campbell, Eric Fischer, Pamela Fischer Morgan, Geoffrey Fischer, Craig Fischer, Logan Fischer, Jake Fischer, and Luke Fischer; plus 18 great-grandchildren and one great- great-granddaughter. A private family service will be held at Koinonia Mennonite Church at 2505 N. Dobson Rd. Chandler, AZ, 85224. Joyce's final resting place will be the Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, IL. The family wishes to offer special thanks to the staff at Veema-Higley Assisted Living and to Lamar and Anna Mae Lantz.
