Justin Hansen

It is with deep love and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Justin who suffered a massive, unrecoverable stroke on August 1, 2025. Life support was removed on August 3, 2025, and he left this life far too soon.

Justin was preceded in death by his father, David D Hansen, his wife, Ileana Hansen. He is survived by his mother Phyllis Hansen (Paul Lapetina), sister Mindy Gifford (Aaron) and their four children and granddaughter, step brother Matthew Lapetina (Gina) and their two daughters, and step sister Danielle Champ (Erik). He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Justin graduated from Highland High School and attended Salt Lake Community College. His vocation was an excellent painter of residential and commercial buildings, interior and exterior. He had an eagle eye for details of all things.

Justin leaves behind a legacy of kindness, adventure and cherished memories that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He had a rare quality of accepting others as they were and never judged them. He was easy-going and was compatible with everyone around him.

Justin was a man of many talents. He enjoyed fishing throughout his life and had peaceful patience and skill to catch and release every specie of fish. He even tied his own flies and was very proficient matching all the flies he studied.

Justin loved to glide over the water as he skied and landed 360’s on a wake board. In the winter, the powdery snow caught his edges as he mastered the slopes, spinning and jumping like a professional.

Justin had a perfect swing on the golf course in the company of friends and family. He and his mother golfed just weeks before his passing, a treasured memory for her.

Justin embraced life with confident skills and talents. His love for the outdoors led him to many adventures. His talent on the guitar showed his natural talent as he could play songs upon hearing them and matching the cords he heard. He mesmerized those listening to his tasty guitar licks, touching many lives with his humble and gentle spirit, warm smile and easy laughter. His presence brought comfort and joy to family and friends.

Justin’s absence leaves an ache that words cannot fill. We will miss him greatly, his gentle ways were comforting and he was so grateful for everything and everyone around him. He had a special love for his cats, like a cat whisperer and they likewise loved him. They were like his children.

Funeral Services will be held at the Wasatch 1st Ward at 1455 S. 1700 E., Salt Lake City, UT. A viewing will begin at 10 a.m. with the funeral beginning at 11 a.m. A luncheon for the family will occur immediately after the funeral and internment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1342 E. 500 S., Salt Lake City, UT 84102.
