Karl Lloyd Bergen, Jr., 78, passed away peacefully in his Provo, Utah home early November 2024 shortly before his 79th birthday. Karl graduated from Brigham Young University with an Associate Degree in Electronics, and a Master’s Degree in Organic Chemistry with a minor in Physics. He was also a Teacher Assistant. His thesis was published by his aunt, Iris Welch Schow, and grandmother, Eleanor Welch Schow, with whom he had a wonderful relationship. Karl had an excellent memory and had a great historical recollection. Karl was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Karl enjoyed chemistry, gardening, and fishkeeping throughout his youth and adulthood. Karl also enjoyed walking and riding a bicycle. He enjoyed computers and tablets very much. He liked to experiment with computer programming and enjoyed writing fiction. Karl had a love for learning and discovering new things. He was very kind. Karl loved all living things – he loved plants, animals and nature.
Karl is survived by his four younger siblings: Kathryn Ann Bergen (and her husband, Daniel), David Paul Bergen (and his wife, Judy), Janet Bergen Martinich (and her husband, Robert), and Nancy Bergen Romney (and her husband, Lorenzo).
