Kathryn "Kathy" Ann McCandless Betts

Kathryn Ann McCandless Betts passed away at the age of 73 on February 28, 2024 in Layton Utah. Kathy was born on June 11, 1950, in Salt Lake City to Gene and Beverly McCandless.  She was the oldest of 7 siblings.

Kathy was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had many interests and passions.  A few among them would be, she had a love of learning and attended college classes into her 40’s studying education with a focus on history she especially loved studying the Mayan and Inca cultures. She loved to read and always had a stack of books in her room ready to be devoured. She was an amazing cook and loved to bake and make some of the most delicious food and treats that we still dream about to this day.

Kathy’s biggest passion in life was people, always willing to pitch in and help or just to be someone who would listen. This was especially true with her family. The truest example of unconditional love and sacrifice, there was nothing she wouldn’t do for her children and grandchildren. 

Kathy is preceded in death by her mother (Beverly McCandless) and father (Gene McCandless) and her son (William “John” Mackenzie). She is survived by her 6 brothers and sisters, 10 children, 22 grandchildren and 9 great children. We love you and miss you.
