Kathye Mary Chase

‬Kathye Mary Chase was born March 29, 1946, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Arthur Mansfield Henney‬ and Mary Howard Henney. She passed away on May 13, 2025.‬

Kathye was a beloved mother to four children: Jonathan, David, Melissa, and Camille. She was‬ a devoted and loving grandmother to ten grandchildren: Josiah, Sage, and Micah Wells; Kai‬ Johnston; Lincoln, Scout, Truman, and Calvin Chase; and Jayda and Lyla Alba.‬

‭She was married to John Dunn Chase for 42 years until his death in 2013.‬ Kathye served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hong Kong,‬ where she learned and spoke Cantonese. Due to the unrest and danger caused by the Red‬ Guard Riots, she was later transferred to the Philippines to complete her missionary service.‬ She often reminisced about her mission. She was a devoted disciple of Christ, maintaining her‬ faith throughout her life.‬

During their marriage, John and Kathye opened their home to people from all walks of life—both‬ from around the world and locally. Despite consistently enduring their own financial struggles,‬ they never turned anyone away. Kathye cared for every guest as if they were her own child. She‬ was a second mother to so many. Her enduring love also extended to animals; she took in‬ strays and had a sympathetic heart for all God’s creatures.‬

‭In accordance with her wishes, a simple graveside service for her family will be held at East‬ Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved son Jonathan‬ and her eternal companion John.‬

‭She will be dearly missed and remembered with full hearts, loving memories, and a firm hope of‬ being reunited again.‬
