Kay Anne Barney

Kay Anne Barney, 56, passed away in her home in Salt Lake City on Sunday, September 27, 2026.

A lifelong Utah resident, Kay grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from Taylorsville High School. Later in life, she went back to school to pursue medical coding and earned her certification.

Kay’s world revolved around her family. She was a mother of four and grandmother of six, and nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with her grandkids. She also had a soft spot for her pets and loved spending her free time working on her personal hobbies and passions.

She was preceded in death by her father, Kayle Olsen, and her son, Michael Olsen.

Kay is survived by her mother, Shauna Olsen; her children, Brittany Olsen, Megan Olsen, and Eric Barney and grandchildren.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and everyone who knew her.
