Kent Widdison

Kent Widdison passed away at his home on February 14, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. Kent was born to Howard J and Lorell Hobbs Widdison on February 28, 1950 and was raised in Hooper, Utah. He married the love of his life, Lorraine Nelson, and was sealed to her in the Ogden LDS Temple.

He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings over the years. Kent was loved by his ward members for his quick wit, sincere testimony and sunglasses he often wore to Sunday services.

Kent worked various mechanic jobs throughout his life. There wasn't anything he could not fix, rebuild or modify. Most recently he worked for Rocky Mountain Power until he became unable due to his health.

Kent was also well know for his knack of converting old buses into comfortable motor homes. This led to his love of touring around the country, where he especially enjoyed visiting numerous church history sites with his wife and brothers in their unique converted “buses”.

He was a devoted husband and loving father to 2 sons and 1 daughter. By example, Kent raised his children to value family relationships, work hard, be resourceful, love learning, enjoy traveling, and always have a good long laugh.

Kent was quick to help his family and friends in any task. He was the go-to mechanic on call night or day for any car trouble for those in need. He was willing to lend a hand in any job that needed to be done. He was generous with his time and always willing to serve. He loved his family and adored his grandchildren. He will always be remembered as “Big Grandpa”.

Kent fought fiercely against cancer for 9 years without complaint. Throughout his trial he made it a priority to spend quality time with his wife and family. Through his simple acts of kindness he was able to enrich their lives time and time again.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lorraine; their children: Kurtis (Kari), Kyle (Emily, and Krystal (Michael) Nessen; eleven grandchildren; his mother, Lorell; siblings: Jim (Mary Ann), Ann Christopherson, Dale (Jan), Garth (Joan), Dan (Karen), and Connie (Pat) Harris; and cherished granddog, Lily. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard and brother-in-law, Dale Christopherson.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, February 18th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Shannondoah Ward Chapel, 5375 South 5900 West, Hooper, UT 84315. Funeral services will be held the next day, Friday, February 19th at 11:00 AM at the same location with visitation from 10:00 to 10:45. Following the funeral service, interment will be in the Hooper Cemetery.
