Kristine Susan Powers Hanson went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ on December 12, 2025. She passed peacefully in the comfort of her home with a few loved ones by her side.
She was born July 11, 1967 in Lamar Colorado and was soon after adopted by Ron and Deanna Powers who brought her home to Grand Junction Colorado on Sept 7, 1967.
She was raised in a loving Catholic home where she grew to know Jesus. Her family moved many times over her childhood where she spent time in Grand Junction Colorado, Lakewood, Colorado, Scottsdale Arizona, Rapid City South Dakota and Gillette Wyoming. Kristi went on to graduate from Campbell County High School in 1985.
At the age of 21, she felt a draw to deepen her faith with her Lord and was water baptized at the Gillette Christian Center. She continued to strengthen her personal relationship with Jesus Christ throughout the remainder of her life. She enjoyed volunteering with the nursery and toddlers and being active in the women’s bible studies.
She attended the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy and worked at the Campbell County Detention Center for 3 ½ years. She then had a 16-year career with the Campbell County Clerk of District Court. She moved to the Salt Lake area when her husband was transferred for work. She then worked as a receptionist for Rio Tinto for 10 years. She would relocate again for her husband’s work, this time to Montreal Canada for 2 ½ years before returning to the Salt Lake area.
She was an avid bicyclist and enjoyed many biking vacations with her husband.
In 2019 she was diagnosed with breast cancer and through her holistic treatment, was able to continue with an active lifestyle until early 2025 when she suffered a broken femur due to the cancer.
She is survived by husband of 34 years Tim Hanson of South Jordan UT; daughter Brittany Hanson (Jon Lok) and grandchildren Cash and Iggy Lok of Salt Lake City UT; parents Ron (Karen) Powers of Blair NE; Deanna Powers of Omaha NE; siblings Kori (Rob) Wendt of Omaha NE; Scott (Cynthia) Powers of Appleton WI; and Sean Powers of Omaha NE.
She was proceeded in death by a sister, Kathy Powers; grandparents Burke Locklin, Deloras Locklin and Helen Kearney.
Kristi is now at peace in the arms of her Savior and hopes to see you all again on that glorious day.
