Laura Lee Larson

Listen to Obituary

Laura Lee (Carlson) Larson, 76, was born February 7, 1950, in Logan, Utah, and passed away May 7, 2026, at her home in Lehi, Utah. Laura faced esophageal and stomach cancer with courage for more than two years, drawing strength from her faith and the love of her family. A lifelong learner, she excelled in school and graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts. After raising her family, she served her community by helping with Special Education in public schools.

Laura’s greatest treasure was her family. She was a wonderful mother—full of love, encouragement, and quiet strength—and she helped her children strive to do well in school and in life. Faithful to God, she lived the commandments and kept her covenants, and she found deep joy in serving others. She served seven missions with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: three missions at the FamilySearch Library in Salt Lake City, Utah; two missions in Mexico; one mission at the Deseret Ranch in Florida; and one mission at the FamilySearch Center in Riverton, Utah. Laura loved serving, teaching family history and temple preparation, and spending time with family and friends. She is remembered for her loving, obedient, and joyful attitude.

Laura grew up in Alaska and always held a special love for the state and its beauty. Even so, she found ways to appreciate and love every place she lived. She was wonderfully creative—she painted, loved creating art, enjoyed flower arranging, and delighted in making costumes for her children. Laura also had a deep love of family history and the temple, and she found great meaning and joy in that sacred work.

Laura is survived by her husband, Scott M. Larson; her children: Benjamin S. Larson, David B. Larson, Phillip W. Larson, Mary E. Lee, Rebecca A. Barnard, Kathy J. Gardner, and Kaylyn P. Kempton; 32 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, John Carl Larson, and her parents, Dorius Doyle Carlson and Helen (Johnson) Carlson.

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported and helped Laura during her battle with cancer. Laura also wished to thank those who have helped—and continue to help—her family members and all who serve the Lord.
