Leo William Ware passed away peacefully, Jan. 3, 2007, one day after his 84th birthday from Alzheimer's and complications following a stroke.
He was born Jan. 2, 1923 in El Paso, Texas to Benjamin Brunner Ware and Zelnora Moffett. He married Betty Millet, later divorced. There were three children from this union: Linda (Doug) Kai of Hawaii, Marsha (Howard) Boso of Arizona, and son, Michael. Six grandchildren: Slate, Shantell (deceased), Sheldon, Rachel, Lisa & Ariana.
Leo married Aileen Fox, June 9, 1958 in Salt Lake City, Utah, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Leo and Aileen have three children: Wendy (Jeff) Barr, Kimball, & Heidi (Steve) Baer. Grandchildren: Kamron, Jordan, & Brandon Barr, Kylie Ware &, Tyler Olsen, & Kaitlin, Monica, Jessica, & Alyssa Baer. Leo is also survived by his precious cat, Tommy.
Leo was a hard working man of many talentsa€"draftsman, designer, aircraft mechanic, builder, entertainer of USO troops with his magic shows, as well as an actor. Leo performed in over 60 plays, movies & commercials. Leo was a WWII veteran having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Leo was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving faithfully in many positions. Leo loved genealogy and found joy in discovering his family.
Leo's dream for the last 20 years was to restore his theatre, the historic Empress Theater in Magna, Utah. Originally built in 1916 as a movie theatre, the Empress has now been converted to a "Theatre in the Round" for live theatre and events. Declining health prevented him from putting the finishing touches on the building. Thanks to the Oquirrh Hills Performing Arts Alliance for completing the project. Leo was able to realize his dream by attending the grand opening and ribbon cutting of his theatre. Go see a show in memory of Leo.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 8 at 12 noon at the East Millcreek 11th Ward Chapel (2702 E. Evergreen Ave., SLC, UT). Viewing to be held on Sunday, Jan. 7th, 6-8 p.m. and Monday, Jan. 8th, one hour prior to services at the same chapel. Interment at Elysian Burial Gardens.
