Lois Sarah Ann Murray

Lois Sarah Ann Newman-Murray.Beloved mother, wife, grandmother, sister and aunt, Lois (Big Oat), aged 95, passed away quietly in her sleep on Saturday, October 4, 2014. She was born September 28,1919 in Lark, Utah to Joseph Albert Newman and Sarah Jane Crane. She grew up in Riverton, Utah graduating from Jordan High School in 1937.

After high school, she was a seamstress and worked in a munitions plant during WWII. She loved to dance and roller-skate. In 1949 she married Raymond Mason Murray. They had one daughter. She worked for 35 years at Mountain Bell (now QWEST) and retired in 1984. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved to read, crochet, and take care of her grandchildren.

She was a kind and loving woman. Always willing to serve and support her family in any way needed.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Joe and Jim, sister Lova, nephew, Dave. She is survived by her daughter Catherine (Kurt) Gentry, grandchildren: Sarah (Adam) Phillips, Rachel (Cameron) Bott, Chase (Corinne) Gentry, Samantha Gentry and Walker Gentry, (almost) eight great-grandchildren: Elle, Ava, Mabel, Violet, William, Liesl, Hal and baby Bott, nieces: Jean Arnold, Lois-Little Oat (Bill) Murphy and nephew Reed (Billie) Newman, stepdaughter, Susan (Kevin) McCabe and stepson, Phillip Murray, and step-grandchildren: Tracy Chapman, Elizabeth Nye, William John McCabe, Steven Parker.

Funeral services will take place Friday, October 10, 2014, 1:00 pm at Mueller Park 8th Ward, 1320 East 1975 South, Bountiful, Utah. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah.
