Macey Drake Grames passed away on December 17, 2006 in Sandy, Utah.
Macey was born on May 7, 1918 in Columbia, Boone County, Missouri. She, and her father, William Arvley James, and mother Bessie Varilla Bryant, and siblings, Lodell Mae and Nelson Lee moved to Perry, Missouri where they spent their childhood and youth. Nelson died at age three of pneumonia.
Macey married Joseph Lee Drake, of Perry Missouri, on February 10, 1934. They lived in Rock Island, Illinois; Lordsburg, New Mexico; Moline, Illinois and The Dalles, Oregon.
After rearing her family, Macey, at age 45, resumed her education and earned a Batchelor of Science degree with a major in Elementary Education. She taught Elementary School in Dufur and The Dalles, Oregon for more than 20 years.
Macey was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at age 11 along with her parents and her sister. Joseph was baptized in January 1951. They were sealed in June 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple and were lifelong active, supporting members of the Church. Joseph passed away May 7, 1989.
Macey and Keith Grames met in Provo, Utah and were married there September 18, 1992. They moved to The Dalles, Oregon and resided there 12 years. They then moved to Sandy, Utah. Keith and Macey served as fulltime missionaries of the Church at the Joseph Smith home in Palmyra, New York.
She is survived by her husband, Keith O. Grames, of Sandy Utah; and her children, Robert J. Drake, of American Fork, Utah, Janet L. Jenkins, of Portland, Oregon, Janice R. Curtis, of Provo, Utah, Brian K. Drake of The Dalles, Oregon; Warren Grames of Sandy, Utah; Pat Lyon of Herriman Utah; Rita Lloyd of Magna, Utah; Ron Grames of Boise, Idaho; Tim Grames of West Jordan Utah; 33 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Crescent 16th Ward (275 E 10600 S) in Sandy, Utah on Thursday, December 21, 11:00 to 12:00 noon with a viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in The Dalles, Oregon.
