Margaret Atocha Sanchez

Margaret Atocha Sanchez, 73 passed away peacefully on November 12, 2015, into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, surrounded by her family, whom she cherished and adored. Atocha was born on April 30, 1942 to Toby Martinez and Antonia Maestas in Gallina, NM, where she resided for many years. Here she she met the love of her life, Joe Sanchez. They were married on July 24, 1959 and relocated to Utah. Atocha and Joe built a wonderful life together rearing three children: Joe, Jonny, and Teresa. While she wore many hats working for Chromalox, the San Juan School District, and as a Sunday School teacher, she was known most for being a wonderful homemaker. Her home was warm and immaculate which on many occasions smelled of fresh tortillas, green chilies and of course, Clorox. She loved fishing, camping, cooking, shopping and traveling with her husband and soul-mate, Joe. The joy of Atocha's life was really in her nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, whom she tended and cared for on many occasions. She would frequently remind them to love Christ above all things and He would get them through any obstacle. In any case, she would love them for the individuals they were. Atocha is survived by her loving husband, Joe Sanchez. Her children: Joe (Ronda), Jonny (Gloria), and Teresa (Mike). Siblings: Mollie, Virgie, Alfie, Helen, Sally, Joe and Frankie. She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Hazel, Annie and Lily. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Canyon Road Assembly of God 1390 Canyon Rd, Ogden, Utah. Friends and family may gather and visit one hour prior to services. The family would also like to express our deepest heartfelt appreciation for the many loving individuals who cared for Atocha including: Dignity Hospice, Flex-Care, Rocky Mountain Care Center, and the great staff of South Davis Community Hospital who so tenderly cared for her in her final hours.
