Mary Donna Heisse Breuninger Conner Crowley
Born May 28, 1917 in Beattie, Kansas to Thomas and Ozella Heisse. Mary Donna grew up on a farm with her sister Eddie. They attended a one-room schoolhouse where Mary Donna graduated valedictorian with a four-year college scholarship. Mary Donna married Edward Olin Breuninger and they had four children; Larry (deceased), Donna, Janet (deceased), and Thomas. Mary and Ed successfully owned and operated the Gifford Hotel in Seneca, Kansas. In 1949, they sold the hotel and moved to Springville, Utah, where they owned and operated the Art City Motel. Mary Donna was a wife, mother, grandmother, great, and great-great grandmother. She was an accomplished businesswoman in both hotels and later at Freedom Honda in Provo, a motorcycle shop she co-owned with her son, Larry. Mary Donna loved to sew and made many quilts and other treasures for her family and home. She could create a new outfit from any picture and have it ready for her girls to try on when they got home from school. Janet and Donna always felt like the best dressed girls in school. Mary Donna loved to cook for friends and family and is famous for her hot steamy rolls and the "second" turkey. She won a first place prize for her colorful gardens full of many different kinds of flowers, and her yard was featured during Art City Days in Springville. She could dance, paint, sew, clean, cook, preserve garden produce, pull weeds, and have time for family and friends, all before lunch. We always loved her kindness and never ending energy. On April 24, she passed peacefully into the hereafter to dance off into the clouds. She is survived by daughter, Donna (Richard), son, Thomas (Danny), and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. We would like to extend a special heart felt Thank You to the incredible staff in Kingswood Court at Canyon Creek, who made her final months comfortable and happy. Graveside services will be Saturday, April 29, 2007 at 2:30 pm at Evergreen Cemetery in Springville. Please share condolences at www.serenicare.com.
